In October 2017 a new food pyramid was introduced in Belgium.
The FOOD PYRAMID was literally turned upside down.
ABOVE ALL DRINK WATER.
The word MEER in the green circle on the left stands for MORE.
MINDER at the bottom means LESS.
The red/brown circle is new and shows food that should be avoided (eg. junk food, cookies, pizza, potato crisps, sugary drinks, etc…).
The words ZO WEINIG MOGELIJK mean AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.
Although many things have changed for the better there still are some remarks to be made.
IMHO (and speaking as an ex-dmt2 patient) the symbols for meat and butter (in the LESS section) should be switched with the symbols for potatoes, pasta, rice and bread (in the MORE section).
However one must think about the whole population this new food pyramid is made for. There are many people who do not suffer from insulin resistance nor obesity/diabetes and they may very well be ok with the new guide lines.
